Firewall appliances for branch, campus and data centre edges
Next-generation firewall appliances sized by throughput and user count — with Fortinet's FortiGate lines the anchor range on this desk.
Size by inspected throughput
Firewall quotations turn on inspected throughput and session counts, not on the box size. State the internet circuit size, the user count behind the appliance and whether the design runs full UTM inspection, and the desk will quote the matching appliance class from the supplied brands.
Fortinet sits in the desk's brand navigation and its firewalls have a dedicated spotlight page here. Other supplied security lines can be quoted where the design names them — put the model on the inquiry and ask.
Firewall inquiry checklist
- Circuit bandwidth and inspected-throughput target
- Users and sites behind the appliance (HA pair or single)
- VPN roles: site-to-site, remote access, or both
- Subscription or bundle names in the specification, if any
The inspection profile is the specification
Firewall sizing fails when it is done from the datasheet's biggest number. The figure that matters is throughput with the inspection the design actually runs — threat prevention, application control, VPN termination — against the user count behind the box. Inquiries that state the inspection profile get appliances sized for the real load.
Growth belongs in the brief for the same reason. An appliance bought at exactly today's circuit speed is replaced at the first circuit upgrade; if the project expects the circuit or the headcount to grow, say so, and the quoted class carries the headroom.
Common questions
Can you supply FortiGate firewalls?
Yes — Fortinet is a listed brand here and FortiGate sourcing has its own page. Send the model class or the throughput target.
Should firewalls ride on the same BOM as switches?
They can. One consolidated quotation can cover the whole site list.
Single unit or HA pair — how is that decided?
By the design's tolerance for edge downtime. State it on the inquiry; the quotation prices the pattern you name, per site.
